Joel Mutakubwa Set For Uganda Premier League Return
Uganda Cranes goalkeeper Joel Mutakubwa is set for a Uganda Premier League return after agreeing terms to join Stanbic Uganda Cup champions Kitara FC, according to reliable sources.
The move will see Mutakubwa return to domestic football and link up with a side preparing to represent Uganda in the CAF Confederation Cup next season.
Just days ago, he helped Wolwalo Adigrat University lift the 2025/26 Ethiopian Cup after a 2-0 victory over Sidama Bunna
The goalkeeper is no stranger to Ugandan football. Locally, Mutakubwa has featured for BUL FC, Kyetume FC among others building a reputation for composure and big-game performances.
He has also recently represented Uganda Cranes at the CHAN tournament, further underlining his status at national team level.
At Kitara, he will joins a side that already has depth between the posts. Meddie Kibirige, who was voted the Best Goalkeeper in last season’s Stanbic Uganda Cup.
