KCCA FC continued their impressive resurgence in the 2026/27 Uganda Premier League season after registering a hard-fought 3-1 victory over Mbarara City FC at Rwamwanja Stadium in Kamwenge on Saturday.

The Kasasiro Boys produced another determined performance to secure their fifth consecutive league victory, strengthening their position in the standings and further underlining their growing confidence following a difficult start to the campaign.

In action KCCA FC Charles Lwanga

Charles Lwanga and Sammy Ssebaduka were once again among the goals, continuing their fine scoring form after also finding the net in Wednesday’s 2-1 comeback victory over Lugazi FC.

KCCA made an early statement, with Lwanga striking the woodwork before Saidi Mayanja was brought down inside the penalty area while attempting to capitalise on the rebound.

Ivan Ahimbisibwe calmly converted the resulting penalty in the 12th minute to put the visitors ahead.

However, Mbarara City responded positively and gradually grew into the contest. Their efforts paid off in the 28th minute when Ronald Odwok finished from close range after being set up by Abdul Bironse to restore parity.

The hosts appeared to be gaining momentum, but KCCA regained their advantage just before the interval. A long throw-in from Fillbert Obenchan caused problems in the Mbarara defence, allowing Ssebaduka to rise above his markers and head home in the 43rd minute.

KCCA went into the break with a 2-1 advantage. Mbarara returned from the interval determined to find another equaliser and came close in the 50th minute through Muhammad Kanyike, whose effort was brilliantly tipped away by goalkeeper Mugolofa.

The hosts continued searching for a way back into the game, but KCCA remained dangerous on the counter and eventually delivered the decisive blow.

Herbert Achayi provided the delivery from a corner in the 71st minute, with Lwanga rising highest to head home KCCA’s third goal and effectively put the contest beyond Mbarara’s reach.

Mbarara had earlier been handed an opportunity to draw level after KCCA conceded a penalty, but goalkeeper Bashir Bravo produced an important save to keep his side in contention at the time.

Despite their efforts, the hosts could not find another breakthrough as KCCA comfortably managed the closing stages to collect all three points.

The victory takes KCCA to fifth position on the league table with 16 points, while Mbarara City remain 12th with eight points.

The Kasasiro Boys will now turn their attention to Tuesday’s home encounter against Maroons FC at the Phillip Omondi Stadium in Lugogo, where they will be targeting a sixth successive league victory.

Mbarara City, meanwhile, will seek a response when they travel to face Kigezi HomeBoyz on November 6.
