Two matches were played yesterday in the Startimes Uganda Premier League, with Vipers SC and SC Villa sharing the points at St Mary’s Stadium Kitende, and NEC FC snatching a late equalizer against Maroons FC at Luzira Prisons Playground.

In the first match, Maroons FC took the lead through Ivan Asaba ‘Di Maria’ in the 75th minute, but NEC FC’s Kavuma Marvin equalized in the 76th minute, securing a crucial point for his team. The equalizer was a blow to Maroons FC, who had thought they had secured all three points.

Coach Kaddu Badru’s side NEC FC will look to build on this momentum when they host Vipers SC on December 5, while Maroons FC will host SC Villa on the same day. Maroons FC now sit 11th on the table with nine points, while NEC FC move up to 9th with 10 points from eight matches.

In the second match, SC Villa took the lead through Frank Ssebuufu’s 68th-minute strike, but Vipers SC’s Arafat Usman leveled the score three minutes later. The draw sees Vipers SC remain unbeaten in five matches with 13 points, sitting fourth on the table, while SC Villa remain unbeaten in their last seven matches, sitting second on the table with 17 points from eight matches.

The result was a fair reflection of the two teams’ current form, with both sides creating chances and showing resilience.
