Denis Omedi Leads APR FC Exodus as Four Stars Head for the Exit

APR FC are set for a major squad shake-up, with the club confirming it will part ways with four players ahead of the new season. The departures include attackers, midfielders, and one of the club’s most talked-about recent stars.
Ugandan forward Dennis Omedi is among those leaving. The Puskas Award nominee had just six months left on his deal and attracted strong interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia and Tanzania, who are reportedly locked in a battle for his signature. During his time at APR, Omedi helped the club win back-to-back league titles in 2024-25 and 2025-26, and lifted the Hero’s Cup in 2025. Last season he registered 6 goals and 5 assists.

He won’t leave alone. APR also confirmed exits for Jean Pierre Ishimwe, Gilbert Mugisha, and Ramadhan Niyibizi. Ishimwe and Barafinda have reached the end of their contracts and will not be renewed.
The exodus marks the end of an era for APR’s title-winning core. With Omedi’s flair and the contributions of Ishimwe, Mugisha, and Niyibizi, the club secured domestic dominance over the past two seasons. Replacing that experience will be the next big test for the coaching staff.
As APR looks to retool, the focus now shifts to who comes in to fill the gaps left by four key departures.
