Yaya Touré’s Scathing Attack on Pep Guardiola: “I See a Snake, Not a Man”

Former Ivory Coast star Yaya Touré has unleashed a blistering tirade against his former coach Pep Guardiola, labeling him a “snake” and implying that he’s not a man of integrity. Touré’s explosive comments, made on Zack Nani’s ‘Zack en Roue Libre’ podcast, reveal a deep-seated animosity towards Guardiola, stemming from their time together at Manchester City.

Touré recounts a phone call he received from Guardiola, who was then coaching Barcelona, attempting to persuade him to return to the Catalan club. “The Barcelona coach called me at the time and said, ‘You have to come back, it’s important,'” Touré recalled. However, his wife was having none of it, and her reaction was unprintable. “My wife said, ‘Are you really going to listen to this nonsense? He treated you badly, and now he wants you to stay and you’re going to stay? Let’s go to Manchester, my brother,'” Touré said, revealing that his wife was instrumental in his decision to reject Guardiola’s advances.

Touré’s anger and hurt are palpable as he reflects on Guardiola’s decision not to play him during his time at City. “The guy didn’t play me all year, and at the end of the year, I shine at the World Cup, and he wants me to come to Barcelona,” he said, incredulous. His wife’s reaction to Guardiola was even more scathing, with her dismissing him as “Sheytan” (devil) and declaring him “not a man, he’s evil.”

Touré’s comments paint a picture of a toxic relationship between the player and coach, with Guardiola coming across as manipulative and disingenuous. The Ivory Coast legend’s parting shot at Guardiola is a devastating indictment of their time together: “I don’t see a man, I see a snake.”
