HAMZ Cup Organisers Increase Prize Money To 150 Million After Massive Fan Turn-Up

HAMZ Cup organisers have increased the tournament’s prize money from 100 Million to 150 Million Uganda Shillings in appreciation of the huge fan turn-up, especially from Manchester United Fans UG, Arsenal Fans UG, and TikTok UG.

The gesture also extends to other groups including Buganda Kombucha and La Prince who have turned out in big numbers at HAMZ Stadium, Nakivubo War Memorial Grounds.

“We Appreciate Your Support”
Competitions Manager Hakim Kasirye said the decision was made by tournament proprietor Haji Hamis Kiggundu to reward the supporters.

“I am pleased to inform you that Haji Hamis Kiggundu appreciates your efforts towards the HAMZ Cup, more so the turn-up of Manchester United Fans UG, Arsenal Fans UG, TikTok UG, Buganda Kombucha and La Prince.

As a sign of appreciation, he has granted us, the organisers, permission to inform you that he has increased the prize money by 50 Million Uganda Shillings. The total cash prize now stands at 150 Million. Individual awards are not included in this and are estimated at 30 Million, bringing the entire tournament value to around 180 Million.”

New Prize Breakdown

The third edition of the HAMZ Cup kicked off on June 6. Teams have so far played two group stage games, with more matches to come before the knockout rounds.

A total of 32 teams in 8 groups are competing for the big prize.

Team Prizes – 150 MILLION UGX Total

  • Champions: 50 MILLION — up from 30 MILLION
  • 2nd Runner Up: 25 MILLION
  • 3rd Runner Up: 20 MILLION
  • 4th Runner Up: 15 MILLION
  • 5th to 8th Runner Up: 10 MILLION each — quarterfinalists’ prize doubled from 5 MILLION

Individual & Special Awards – 30 MILLION UGX

  • MVP: 1 MILLION
  • Team With Largest Fans: 1 MILLION
  • Best Goalkeeper: 500,000
  • Top Scorer: 500,000
  • Fair Play: 500,000
  • Best 2 Media: 500,000
  • Best Coach: 500,000

The team with the largest number of fans in the stands throughout the tournament will also take home 1 MILLION.
