Vipers SC Withdraws from Scheduled Match Over Concerns with New League Format
Vipers SC, a prominent Ugandan football club, has announced its decision to withdraw from a scheduled double-header match against Kitara FC on October 4th, 2025.
The club’s president, Dr. Lawrence Mulindwa, expressed in a letter that the team finds the situation “unethical and disrespectful” with a “total disregard” for their efforts in raising football standards and contributing to the national football agenda.

In light of these concerns touching on the integrity of the game and posing an existential threat to Vipers SC as a football entity, the club has decided not to participate in the match or any further engagements in the new league format until these issues are formally addressed and resolved by the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA).
Vipers SC affirms that they will use all available means within football laws and best practices to seek redress for the justice of the game and protect their rights as an independent and full member of FUFA.

The letter was copied to several stakeholders including the Hon. Minister of Education and Sports, the General Secretary of the National Council for Sports, the CEO of Uganda Premier League, Vipers SC sponsors and partners, UPL sponsors and partners, Vipers SC fans, and Uganda football fans and stakeholders.
