The win marks Maroons’ second victory of the season and a statement performance from the Luzira Prisons side, who are temporarily hosting their home games at Wankulukuku.

After a goalless first half, the Prison Warders came out firing in the second stanza.

Fred Amaku broke the deadlock 12 minutes after the restart, finishing off a well-worked move assisted by Ssemwogerere. Amaku had just made his return back to Maroons FC this season from URA FC.

Substitute Kitimbo Innocent then made an instant impact, setting up Dickinson Niwamanya in the 76th minute to double the lead.

Baden Ogama sealed the comprehensive victory late on with a powerful strike, assisted by left-back Obua.

The result lifts Maroons’ confidence as they continue to adapt to their new home and push for consistency in the Uganda Premier League.

Speaking to Kitimbo Innocent after the match:

On his change of position from defence to midfield:

“Of course after the departure of Norman Odipio I was changed from defence to a box-to-box midfielder because of my workrate and my comfortability on the ball. The team wanted my services more in the midfield to help the team move forward quickly.”

It should be recalled that Kitimbo played as an attacking midfielder during his early days at Luzira United, Vision Lamancia SC, Ssingo Ssaza, and in his debut UPL season at Soltilo Bright Stars FC.

On registering his first assist of the season:

“Man, I felt great because it’s one of the things I’ve been praying for, scoring a goal or creating one, so that it boosts my confidence and brings more trust from teammates, coaches and fans.”

A player reborn in midfield, Kitimbo is slowly proving to be a vital cog for Maroons as they build momentum this season.
