AFCON 2025 : Ugandan Referee Assessor Ali Tomusange Mulumba Leads the Pack at AFCON
While the Uganda Cranes may have exited the 2025 AFCON tournament, Ugandan officials are still shining bright, raising the country’s flag high in Morocco. Among them is the talented referee Shamirah Nabadda, who recently received her second appointment at the tournament as the fourth official for the Ivory Coast vs Gabon match.

However, the biggest pride for Uganda is the historic former FIFA International Referee Ali Tomusange Mulumba, who is currently serving as a match assessor and leading the assessors’ chart at AFCON.
Ali Tomusange Mulumba’s achievement is no small feat, having assessed six matches, tied with Moroccan-born Yahya Hadqa. His first appointment came on December 22, 2025, for the Zimbabwe vs Egypt match, and he’s gone on to assess five more matches since then. Retired FIFA referee who officiated at the FIFA Club World Cup, Tomusange brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his role as an assessor.
His constructive feedback is invaluable to referees, helping them improve and grow. As a member of the CAF Referees Committee, Tomusange’s contributions are crucial to the development of African football.
