UGANDAN PLAYERS ABROAD – Weekly Roundup
It was a busy week for Ugandan footballers abroad, with action across Africa, Europe, and North America.
Several Ugandan stars featured prominently in the CAF Women’s Champions League CECAFA Qualifiers, while others made their mark in UEFA competitions and domestic leagues around the world.
CAF WOMEN’S CHAMPIONS LEAGUE – CECAFA QUALIFIERS (Tanzania)
Yei Joint Stars, with a strong Ugandan contingent, were in action twice. On Monday, Grace Aluka, Spencer Nakacwa and Lukiya Namubiru all started as Yei Joint Stars drew 1-1 with Rayon Sports, with Maureen Nankiinga coming off the bench to score.
On Thursday, in the semifinals, Namubiru Lukiya, Grace Aluka and Spencer Nakacwa again started as Yei Joint Stars suffered a heavy 5-0 defeat to Kenya Police Bullets FC. They will now face CBE in the third-place playoff today.
For Kenya Police Bullets, Wednesday saw Daisy Nakaziro and Margaret Kunihira both start, while Hadijah Nandago was introduced in the second half, as Bullets claimed a 3-1 victory over Top Girls Academy.
In Thursday’s semifinal, Hadijah Nandago and Sandra Kisakye were both on the bench as Kenya Police Bullets thumped Yei Joint Stars 5-0 to advance to the final.
Uganda’s representatives, Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC, thrashed CBE 3-0 to storm into the final where they will face Kenya Police Bullets FC today.
TRANSFERS
In Rwanda, Zaina Namuleme has mutually terminated her contract with Rwandan champions Rayon Sports after just two months.
Namuleme had joined Rayon Sports from Kenya Police Bullets ahead of the Champions League Qualifiers.
UEFA CONFERENCE LEAGUE QUALIFIERS
On Wednesday in the UEFA Conference League, Rogers Mato came off the bench in the 91st minute, provided an assist in the 100th minute, and scored the third penalty in the shootout as Hearts drew 2-2 with Rapid Wien (4-4 on aggregate).
Hearts won 4-2 on penalties to advance to the league phase.
On Thursday, James Bogere was an unused substitute as his side AGF Aarhus lost 3-1 to Benfica.
Despite the defeat, Bogere and Hamuza Ssengooba’s AGF Aarhus will feature among the 36 teams in the UEFA Conference League league phase for the 2026/27 season after dropping from the Europa League.
ENGLISH FOOTBALL – CARABAO CUP & LEAGUES
On Wednesday, Ugandan right-back Nathan Asiimwe featured as Charlton Athletic took on Tottenham Hotspur in the Carabao Cup.
In the Championship on Friday, Ryan Kavuma McQueen played 63 minutes as Portsmouth lost 2-1 to Bristol City.
Nathan Asiimwe was introduced in the 90th minute as Charlton Athletic claimed a 1-0 victory over Preston North End.
Still in the Championship, Divine Mukasa played 65 minutes as West Ham lost 1-0 to Watford.
In League One, Toby Sibbick completed the entire match as Burton Albion lost 2-1 to Notts County.
SCOTTISH PREMIERSHIP & CHAMPIONSHIP
On Saturday in the Scottish Premiership, Jordan Obita played the full 90 minutes as Hibernian edged Dundee FC 2-1.
Rogers Mato, who also featured in Europe in midweek, was an unused substitute as Hearts edged St Johnstone. Hearts moved second on the table with six points from three matches.
On Friday in the Scottish Championship, Allan Oyirwoth played 85 minutes as Dunfermline edged Raith Rovers 1-0.
DENMARK – SUPERLIGA & WOMEN’S A LIGA
On Sunday in the Danish Superliga, James Bogere, who was on the bench in midweek in Europe, played 61 minutes as AGF Aarhus lost 2-1 to Randers.
In the Women’s A Liga, Phionah Nabumba featured for Midtjylland W as they claimed a 2-0 victory over Odense W,
while Vanessa Karungi was on the bench as Brondby W lost 3-1 to Copenhagen W.

In Tanzania, Hassan Mubiru was introduced in the second half as Azam drew 2-2 with Geita Gold on Friday,
John Ben Nakibinge started on the bench as Pamba lost 2-0 to Young Africans SC.
RWANDA – SUPER CUP
On Wednesday in the Rwanda Super Cup semifinal, Hussein Ssenoga lasted the entire match while Freedom Mungudit featured for 82 minutes as Mukura Victory Sports Club lost 1-0 to Kiyovu SC.
EGYPT – PREMIER LEAGUE
On Thursday in Egypt, Joseph Ochaya was an unused substitute as Arab Contractors lost 3-2 to Al Masry.
On Friday, Kenneth Semakula played 63 minutes as Al Ittihad Alexandria lost 3-1 to Ceramica Cleopatra.
TUNISIA – LIGUE 1
On Saturday Tunisia, Ryan Figo Kizito was introduced in the 80th minute as Hammam Sousse lost 1-0 to Club Africain.
Travis Mutyaba played the full match while Hakim Mutebi was introduced in the 82nd minute as CS Sfaxien defeated ES Zarzis 2-1.
CZECH REPUBLIC – CHANCE LIGA
Aziz Kayondo was the hero as he played the entire 90 minutes and scored as Slovan Liberec claimed a 2-0 victory over Hradec Kralove.
IRAQ – STARS LEAGUE
On Saturday in Iraq, Ivan Ahimbisibwe started on the bench as Zakho SC lost 4-0 to Al Zawraa.
SOUTH SUDAN – PREMIER LEAGUE
Jude Ssemugabi netted a brace as Jamus SC edged Al Ghazala SC 3-1.
MEXICO – LIGA MX FEMENIL
On Saturday in Mexico, Juliet Nalukenge was introduced at the restart of the second half as Puebla Women thrashed Necaxa W 4-1.
USA – USL CHAMPIONSHIP
In the USL Championship, Noble Okello lasted the full match as Lexington lost 2-1 to New Mexico United.
