Soroti/Katakwi Awaits A Massive Experience As The NRC Takes A Fourth Turn.
As the Motorsport rally season continues, this week will be even more exciting with the race in the eastern part of Uganda, the Soroti/Katakwi rally organized by the Eastern Motor Club.
On July 21 at Cooper Chimney in Lugogo, EMC joint organizers and FMU presented to the media where they expect to hold the race, which will take place on July 24-26.
Clerk of the Course Monica Birwinye stated, “Although we encountered challenges in getting different stages due to heavy rains and the fact that most of the areas are flat, we managed to identify more than 289 kilometers, including 158 kilometers of transport and the remaining which are competitive, divided into 10 stages.”
FMU Vice President Haj Hamid Gombe focused on safety and called on everyone, including organizers, supporters, local residents, and those providing various services, to prioritize safety.
Meanwhile, EMC President Peter Kagwa applauded Vice President Jessica Alupo, State Minister for Sports Hon. Peter Ogwang, and various partners for their support towards the successful hosting of the Soroti–Katakwi Rally for the first time on the NRC calendar.
FMU Secretary General Reynold Kibira said the rally in Teso is part of the 2023 sports calendar. For the record, the last rally to be hosted in Teso was way back for over half century.
As the NRC calendar enters the fourth round, Hassan Alwi is still leading with 177 points, but his rival remains Duncan Mubiru with 129 points.
