Kampala Region Referees Inter DFA Tournament Set For Kick-Off at Wankulukuku

The Kampala Region Referees Inter DFA Tournament returns tomorrow at Mutesa II Wankulukuku Stadium with two opening fixtures that promise an exciting start to the 2026 edition.
Newcomers Kampala Central DFA will make their tournament debut after missing last year’s inaugural competition due to unavoidable circumstances. They open their campaign against Kawempe DFA at 2:00 PM. Kawempe, competing in their second edition, will be eager to turn things around after a difficult debut last year in which they failed to win any of their six matches.

Kampala Central, meanwhile, will be looking to make an immediate impact and announce themselves on the regional stage.
The day’s second match kicks off at 4:00 PM and features defending champions Rubaga DFA against Nakawa DFA in what is already shaping up to be a do-or-die encounter. Nakawa have bolstered their squad with new players and added Shem Ssekirimwa to their technical bench in preparation. Rubaga, however, hold the psychological edge, having beaten Nakawa twice without defeat in the previous campaign.

Tournament format and rules:
- Mixed format combining a round-robin group stage with a final
- Seven substitutes allowed in three opportunities; no return substitutions
- Two matches per matchday, all at Wankulukuku Stadium
- Only active, affiliated referees for 2026 are eligible to participate
- Maximum squad size of 23 players per team
With defending champions in action, a debutant side hungry to impress, and Kawempe seeking redemption, tomorrow’s double-header sets the tone for what should be a fiercely contested tournament.
