Calvary FC breathed a sigh of relief as they secured a hard-fought 1-0 win over Police FC at home in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League. Lawrence Olaboro’s solitary strike in the 78th minute was enough to give Calvary FC the three points, extending their unbeaten run at home to four matches. This resilience at home is a glimmer of hope for the struggling side, who are fighting for survival in the league.

Olaboro’s goal takes his tally to six goals this season, a personal milestone amidst the team’s struggles. However, with only three matches left, Calvary FC’s fate hangs in the balance. They currently sit 15th on the table with 16 points from 27 matches and need to win all their remaining fixtures to have any hope of avoiding relegation.
Their upcoming matches are a tough ask, with away games against URA FC and UPDF, followed by a home match against NEC.

Even if they win all these matches, their survival will depend on other results, including UPDF FC collecting fewer than three points from their remaining matches and Lugazi picking just one point from their last three games. It’s a tall order, but Calvary FC’s late run of form has given them a fighting chance.
Police FC, on the other hand, remains sixth on the board with 44 points, managed by coach Matia Lule. The win was a much-needed boost for Calvary FC, but they can’t afford to get complacent if they want to stay in the top flight.
