Nkumba University’s Beach Girls have been crowned African university women’s football champions after a commanding 3-1 victory over Guinea-Bissau’s Université Général Lansana Conté de Sonfonia (UGLC) in the final of the 12th All African University Games in Cairo, Egypt.
The Ugandan representatives produced a memorable performance to claim continental glory, completing the tournament unbeaten and finishing their campaign at the summit of African university football.
Midfield maestro Shafiga Tamisi delivered a standout performance when it mattered most, scoring twice to inspire Nkumba to victory.
Cecilia Dipping also found the back of the net as the Beach Girls established their authority in the final and secured a historic 3-1 triumph.
The victory caps a remarkable campaign for Nkumba University, who consistently showed resilience, discipline and attacking quality throughout the competition.
Tamisi’s brace proved decisive, while Dripping’s contribution ensured the Ugandan side maintained control of the contest on their way to the championship.
For Nkumba University, the triumph represents more than just a gold medal. It is a landmark achievement for Ugandan university football and another major moment for women’s football on the continent.
The 12th All African University Games in Cairo have therefore ended with Nkumba University standing tall as African university women’s football champions.
Uganda has conquered Africa and the Beach Girls have brought the crown home.
