NEC FC Parts Ways with Coach Mbalangu Hussein.

NEC FC has officially parted ways with their head coach, Hussein Mbalangu. The decision comes after Mbalangu’s suspension for participating in the Masaza Cup as the technical director of Ssingo Ssaza FC.

During his tenure, Mbalangu led NEC FC to notable achievements, including a Stanbic Uganda Cup runner-up finish in the 2023-24 season and a second-place finish in the Startimes Uganda Premier League in the 2024-25 season, securing a spot in the CAF Confederation Cup.

Mbalangu’s Statistics with NEC FC:

  • 2023-24 Season:
    • 29 matches, 14 wins, 6 draws, 9 losses (48 points, 6th position)
  • 2024-25 Season:
    • 30 matches, 20 wins, 7 draws, 3 losses (67 points, 2nd position)

Mbalangu’s contract was set to run until May 2026, but his departure marks a significant change for the Bugolobi-based side. James Odoch will take over as interim coach, guiding the team forward.

Mbalangu’s engaging pre- and post-match interviews will be remembered by fans and journalists alike. His leadership undoubtedly left a lasting impact on NEC FC.
