Nairobi United Sign Ugandan Left Back Mustapha Kizza

Nairobi United Football Club has officially welcomed Ugandan left back Mustapha Kizza to the team, completing a transfer from NEC Football Club. The Kenyan Premier League side has bolstered its defense with Kizza’s signing, looking to strengthen its squad for the upcoming challenges.

Kizza, with a wealth of experience, joins Nairobi United after a notable stint with NEC FC, which he joined in July last year. The left back has showcased his abilities in various leagues, featuring for top clubs like KCCA FC (on two occasions), Arouca FC, Montreal Impact, and Express FC.

Featured for Uganda Cranes in different competitions like CECAFA, Kizza has demonstrated his defensive prowess and attacking flair, making him a valuable addition to Nairobi United.

Kizza’s experience in continental competitions is also a plus, having featured in the CAF Confederations Cup preliminary round against Nairobi United last year. He assisted Cromwell Rwothomio in a 2-2 draw at Hamz stadium Nakivubo and also played in the return leg at Nyayo Stadium, which ended 1-1, leading to NEC FC’s exit from the competition.

Nairobi United’s signing of Kizza is part of a broader recruitment drive, with Waibi Charles Moses and Titus Sematimba also reportedly joining the club. The team has been in decent form, claiming a 3-1 victory over Shabana FC away from home, and currently sits 9th on the table with 19 points from 11 matches. They trail table leaders Kakamega Homeboyz Football Club by five points, with four matches in hand.

Nairobi United’s continental campaign, however, has been less successful, with the team yet to collect a point from two matches in the CAF Confederations Cup group B. They face stiff competition from Maneima United, Azam, and Wydad AC in the group stages. Kizza’s experience and skills will be crucial in helping the team turn its fortunes around in both the league and continental competitions.
