Stewart leaves Mutungo after two wonderful and successful years with the club. His love for the game, hard work, obedience, respect and commitment have been vital to his rapid rise from the 3rd Division (Kampala Regional League) to the highest level of Ugandan football.
The talented player featured for Butambala Ssaza last year in the prestigious Masaza Cup tournament and currently features for Manchester United Fans in the Hamz Tournament.
Speaking ahead of his move, Stewart said:
“I wish to thank Mutungo FC for trusting a young boy with a dream, the management and most especially Manager Bosco Anguzu who’s been always at my aid whenever I needed something, my coaches Bernard Kazira, Sida Alex and Ochuka Simon plus my teammates who’ve pushed me to be better and most importantly the Mutungo FC fans, mwebale nyo. I love and wish y’all the very best for the new season.”
The club added: “We wish Stewart the best of luck going forward, and hope to have him home in future, in any other capacity, for he has raised the Mutungo FC flag very high.”

He will now fight for a spot with David Lukwago who is currently in the national team setup.
Stewart Matovu is a modern goalkeeper who commands his defence with authority, excels with good crosses and precise distribution, is strong and brave in one-on-one situations, comfortable with the ball at his feet, and possesses quick reflexes and excellent shot-stopping ability.
