Mbarara City Ready for Police FC Test in their UPL Opener

Mbarara City FC have arrived safely in Kampala ahead of their 2026/27 Uganda Premier League opener against Police FC on Saturday at 4:00pm at Kira Police Arena, Kamwokya.
Assistant coach Zaidi Byekwaso says the team travelled well and is ready to give fans a good show.
“We travelled well and we are safe here in Kampala. We are ready for the game against Police FC and expect to give the fans a good show,” Byekwaso said.
Mbarara City traveling Squad to face Police FC
He added that their pre-season matches helped the technical team identify and correct weaknesses while further strengthening the team’s strong areas.
Mbarara City have also added experience to their squad, with former KCCA FC duo Brian Aheebwa and Rogers Mugisha, former UPDF FC forward Ivan Bogere, and ex-Vipers SC goalkeeper Bashir Sekajja joining the club. Sekajja could make his debut against Police if selected.
The Ankole Lions will, however, face a Police side they have struggled to beat in recent meetings. Their last five encounters have produced one win apiece and three draws. The most recent meeting ended 1-1 in September 2025, while Police won the April 2025 fixture 2-0 and the September 2024 clash in Mbarara ended 0-0.
Mbarara City will now hope their improved squad and pre-season preparations can translate into a positive start to the new campaign.
