FUFA Big League Matchday Two commenced yesterday with seven matches on the card, producing excitement across different venues as new entrants made strong statements on their debut.

At St. Paul Mutolore Playground, new entrants Volcanoes SC edged Lufula Boys Catda Football Club 1-0. SC Volcanoes, with ambitions of earning promotion, have assembled a very experienced team under the stewardship of Coach Sadiq Sempigi, who guided Kigezi HomeBoyz FC to Uganda’s top-tier league last season. The squad comprises Fredrick Ngalo, Ssentongo Abdallah, Salim Abdallah, Fiat, Chopra, among others.

At the end of the full-time whistle, Fredrick Ngalo’s 55th-minute strike was enough for SC Volcanoes to earn three vital points in their first-ever FUFA Big League match in the club’s history.

This was a perfect start for a team built for promotion, showing composure and experience to grind out a result at home.

At Bar Okoro Playground, Ssimbwa’s third-minute strike was enough as Coach Twinamatsiko Mark’s side, Paidha Black Angels SC, edged Kiyinda Boys FC 1-0. It was a game of fine margins where the early goal made all the difference, with Paidha defending resolutely for the rest of the match to secure maximum points.

Paidha Black Angels SC will return to action on Sunday as they visit Onduparaka FC at Greenlight Stadium in what promises to be a tough West Nile derby.

At Amus College Stadium, Buwambo United suffered a 3-0 defeat to Amus College FC. Kedhi Michael scored a goal while Ijosiga Mudashir scored a brace for Amus in a well-attended match.

The victory was dominant from start to finish, with Amus showing attacking fluidity and clinical finishing in front of their home fans. This was Amus College FC’s first-ever victory in the FUFA Big League, a historic moment for the school side.

At Luo Grounds, new entrants Pakwach Young Stars thrashed Kaaro Karungi FC 3-0. Badru Duncan scored in his own net in the 46th minute, and two minutes after the restart of the second half, Charles Bob Akena doubled their lead.

One minute into added time, Jalal Adnan Abdul sealed their victory. It was a commanding performance from the debutants who capitalized on Kaaro Karungi’s defensive errors.

In the other fixtures, Rwothomio Hillary and Alex Oyirwoth scored for Young Elephants Academy FC as they defeated Calvary FC 2-0 in a well-controlled encounter, while Rwenzori Lions FC edged Iganga United FC 1-0 to also collect three points on the day.

Action resumes on Thursday as Calvary FC hosts Kaaro Karungi FC at Calvary Midigo Playground.
