Mao Advocates for Humanity as He Announces Gulu Marathon Registration  Open

Gulu City pride and prominent politician Norbert Mao has called on more people to show humanity while announcing that registration for the Gulu City Marathon is now open. The announcement was made at the Sheraton Hotel in Kampala.

Speaking at the marathon launch held on July 30 at midday, he stated:
“All people in this country have two ways of serving the nation. One group consists of those who are selfish, stealing everything they can, embezzling and land grabbing.

But there is another way: people who choose to serve the nation with humanity, and this is an avenue that is open to everybody.”

The third edition of the Gulu City Marathon was launched over four months ahead of the event, which will take place on December 5, 2026, in Gulu City. Registration is now open for the 21-kilometer, 10-kilometer, and 5-kilometer races.

“Honestly, I tried a lot in Gulu City, but the idea of a marathon skipped me. I applaud the people behind it. On December 5, I will be on the road running with all participants. For that reason, I announce that registration for the Gulu City Marathon is open,” he said.

The marathon has several objectives, including expanding HIV/AIDS awareness and re-empowering the culture and heritage of Gulu City and the entire northern Uganda.
