Masaza Cup: Late Paul Hasule’s Son Lands Coaching Job.

As the 2026 Masaza Cup edition approaches, Ssaza teams are busy putting their technical teams in place, and one notable appointment is Haumba Edwin Laston Panabucano, son of the late coaching legend Paul Hasule, who has landed the assistant coach role at Butambala Ssaza Football Club.
This is a significant opportunity for Haumba, who has a mountain to climb to live up to his father’s illustrious coaching legacy. The late Paul Hasule, affectionately known as V8, was a force to be reckoned with, amassing an impressive 21 titles – 15 as a player and six as a coach.

Haumba Edwin Laston Panabucano has been around the coaching scene for a while, having handled various teams, including ISBAT University in the University Football League, Lira Integrated University, and several fourth-division and regional league teams, such as Buganda Road, Miracle FC, Aldies FC, KJT, Edgars Football Club, Proline FC, and Old Kampala FC in the Kampala Province League. He was also part of the coaching staff at Express Football Club during Coach Kaddu Badru’s reign.
Haumba has worked with several talented players, including Gavin Kizito, Saidi Mayanja, Steven Mukwala, Ssentamu Yunus, Mato Rogers, Alex Yiga, Olimi Nyara, Tibita Laban, Gaganga Geofrey, and Alpha Sali, among others.

Butambala Ssaza Football Club, Haumba’s new team, had a disappointing previous season, failing to make it past the group stages under the stewardship of Coach Paul Kiwanuka.
The team was grouped with finalists Ssingo and semi-finalists Kyagwe, and there’s a lot of work to be done to bounce back stronger. With Haumba on board, the team is looking to make a statement this time around.
