Gor Mahia FC is delighted to announce the signing of Ugandan international striker Denis Omedi ahead of the 2026/27 season.

One of East Africa’s most accomplished forwards in recent years, Omedi arrives with a proven goalscoring record, international experience, and continental pedigree.
His arrival significantly strengthens K’Ogalo’s attacking options as the club prepares to defend its league title and mount serious challenges in the domestic cup, the CECAFA Club Championship, and most importantly, the CAF Champions League.
Omedi’s journey to the top of East African football has been nothing short of remarkable. He began his career with Booma FC in Uganda before earning a move to Kitara FC, where he established himself as one of the region’s deadliest strikers.
During the 2023/24 Uganda Premier League season, he scored 15 league goals, finishing among the league’s top scorers and helping Kitara enjoy an outstanding debut campaign in the top flight.
He also played a key role in Kitara’s historic Uganda Cup triumph and carried that form into the CAF Confederation Cup, where he scored twice in two appearances.
His performances earned him a move to Rwandan giants APR FC in early 2025, where he further enhanced his reputation by competing at the highest level of East African football.
Alongside his club exploits, Omedi became a regular for the Uganda Cranes. He scored crucial goals during Uganda’s successful qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and also found the net at the tournament itself.
Beyond his goals, Omedi captured global attention for his technical brilliance. His spectacular rabona strike against KCCA FC earned nominations for both the 2024 FIFA Puskás Award and the CAF Goal of the Year Award. The Ugandan finished third in the FIFA Puskás Award voting.
Omedi also boasts an inspiring story of resilience. Before becoming a professional footballer, he balanced football with working as a nurse and serving with the Uganda Prisons Service.
As Gor Mahia returns to continental football, Omedi’s experience at both international and CAF club level will be invaluable.
His ability to score goals, lead the line, hold up play, and thrive in high-pressure matches makes him a major addition to Coach Charles Akonnor’s squad as K’Ogalo seeks success both domestically and across Africa.
