UPL: Kitara FC Left It Late To Edge Lugazi FC 2-1

Kitara FC finally snapped their three-match winless streak with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Lugazi FC at Najjembe Lugazi Stadium. The win was a welcome relief for coach Waswa Bbosa, who had been under pressure following a poor run of results. The Royals had dropped points at home in their previous match against Calvary FC, and a win was crucial to get their season back on track.

Patrick Henry Kaddu struck first for Kitara FC in the 31st minute, heading in Gaddafi Wahab’s well-placed free kick. It was Kaddu’s first goal since scoring against Express FC in January, and he celebrated with a trademark goal celebration. Lugazi FC fought back, and substitute Paul Busolo equalized for the home side, tapping in Freedom Mungdit’s cross. The Lugazi FC fans were ecstatic, sensing a comeback.

However, the hosts were awarded a late blow when their captain, Richard Ayiko, was sent off in the 87th minute, leaving his team with 10 men. Kitara FC capitalized on the advantage, with Muhammad Shaban scoring the winner in stoppage time, slotting home Samuel Kato’s long ball. The Kitara FC bench erupted in joy as Shaban’s late strike secured a vital win.

The win marks Kitara FC’s first victory in three matches, and it’s a much-needed boost for the team. Coach Simon Peter Mugerwa’s Lugazi FC, on the other hand, remain just two places above relegation. The Lugazi FC coach will be disappointed with his team’s performance, especially after they had a man less for a significant chunk of the game and still couldn’t hold on
