KCCA FC Target Patrick Bayiga As They Strengthen Defensive Options

Uganda Premier League giants Kampala Capital City Authority Football Club have set their sights on free agent centre-back Patrick Bayiga as they look to bolster their squad ahead of the new season. The Kasasiro Boys are reportedly keen on bringing in the experienced defender who is currently a free agent after leaving NEC Football Club.
Bayiga joined NEC FC in 2024 from Luzira-based Maroons FC, and his impact was felt immediately. In his debut season at the club, he formed a solid defensive partnership with Jacob Okoa, a teammate he had previously played alongside at Maroons. The duo’s understanding at the back gave NEC one of the most organized defensive units in the league during that period.

The 2025/26 season started on a difficult note for Bayiga after the sacking of head coach Hussein Mbalangu. Under new coach Kaddu Badru, the defender saw his game time reduced significantly. However, injuries to key players in the backline opened the door for a comeback. Bayiga seized the opportunity and became very instrumental for NEC FC during the second round of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League, helping to steady the ship defensively when it mattered most.
According to reliable sources, KCCA FC have now shown interest in the services of the free agent. With his experience in the Uganda Premier League and proven ability to step up under pressure, Bayiga fits the profile of the type of battle-hardened defender the Kasasiro Boys are looking to add to their ranks. His availability on a free transfer also makes him an attractive option for the 13-time league champions.

Bayiga’s journey to the top flight has been one of steady progression. He cut his teeth with Nakawa Fourth Division sides Blue Wave and Thunders Football Club, helping Thunders earn promotion to the Kampala Region League under the guidance of Samuel Mulondo, who is now a Uganda Cranes Kits manager.
His performances earned him a move to Maroons FC, and he also featured in the prestigious Masaza Cup tournament for Kyadondo Ssaza Football Club before establishing himself as a Premier League centre-back.
