After a cagey first half, Kawempe’s captain broke the deadlock immediately after the restart, punishing Kampala Central’s failure to clear their lines with a curling finish past goalkeeper Kato Lwalira that sent Kawempe supporters into celebrations.
The result marked Kawempe’s first win in seven matches. Ivan Lubwama was named Man of the Match, with the award sponsored by Bash Collections.
Kampala Central will now regroup ahead of their clash with Makindye, while Kawempe will look to build momentum against Nakawa next Tuesday at the same venue.

The 4 p.m. encounter between defending champions Rubaga and Nakawa produced even more drama, with Nakawa edging a seven-goal thriller 4-3.
Nabongo Abdulkarim gave Nakawa the lead in the 17th minute with a powerful strike, and Kwizera Denis set up Tukamushaba Simon to double the advantage in the 28th. Rubaga pulled one back through Noel Namiro in the 38th after the Nakawa goalkeeper spilled a save.

Seven minutes into the second half, miscommunication between Nakawa goalkeeper Muzamiru Ali and his defense allowed Bantubalamu Sam to tap in Ozitile’s cross and level at 2-2.
Nakawa restored their lead in the 70th minute when substitute Mimu Ssekabira’s cross found Tukamushaba, who completed his brace. Rubaga responded quickly as Ozitile Ponsius fired home to make it 3-3 and ignite their fans.
But Kwizera Denis had the final say, weaving past three defenders before slotting past goalkeeper Juuko Nelson to seal Nakawa’s 4-3 win.

Kwizera, nicknamed ‘Mosquito’, was named Man of the Match for his match-winning performance.
