Kampala Region League: Black Stars Edged , Police Young FC Stumbled

The Kampala Region League delivered thrilling encounters over the past two days, with match day 20 of the second round producing several memorable moments.

In a pulsating Kawempe Derby, Black Stars FC emerged 3-1 winners over hosts Mbogo UTD at the muddy Kawempe Muslim playground.

Abdul Razak Takuba Kirumira’s early header in the first minute gave Mbogo UTD the lead, but Benon Lutaaya equalized for Black Stars FC 18 minutes later.

The visitors took the lead in the 53rd minute through Alex Ssekyanzi’s header, and he sealed the win with a brace seven minutes later. Mbogo UTD’s Abdul Razak Takuba Kirumira was sent off in the 70th minute, leaving his team down to 10 men.

In other matches, Buganda Road FC staged a stunning comeback, overturning a 2-0 deficit to defeat Lufula FC 3-2 at Kanyanya playground.

Kisugu UTD FC picked up a 1-0 win over Police Young FC at Cambridge Butabika playground, courtesy of Brian Matu Tumusiime’s 13th-minute penalty. This marked Police Young FC’s third consecutive loss in the second round.

Edgars FC suffered a 1-0 loss to Born Talent FC courtesy of Lwanga Tony’s lonely strike in the 31st minute while Lukuli Hearts FC claimed a 3-1 win over Kireka United FC at Lukuli Naganda playground. Hasan Ssekandi, Isihaaq Lubega, and Brian Ntambi scored for Lukuli, who secured a vital victory.

Water FC and Lungujja Galaxy FC played out a 1-1 draw at UICT playground, and Ntinda United drew 2-2 with Nsambya SC at Yes Centre Nsambya Playground.

Black Stars FC’s win was a highlight, given their impressive form – they’ve scored eight goals in their last two matches, including a 5-2 thrashing of Edgars FC. Meanwhile, Police Young FC will look to regroup after their third consecutive defeat. The Kampala Region League is certainly delivering thrills and spills.
