FUFA Unveils Exciting New League Format for Kampala Region League 2025-26 Season
The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has introduced a thrilling new format for the upcoming Kampala Region League 2025-26 season. The league, which features 18 teams, promises to bring more excitement and competition to the football scene in Kampala.

The New Format
The season will be divided into three rounds, each with its unique format. The first round will feature a round-robin format, where teams will play 17 games, earning two points for a win and one point for a draw. The top 9 teams will then proceed to the second round, where they will be divided into two groups, playing one leg. The same will apply to the bottom 9 teams.

In the third round, the top 9 teams will be further divided into two groups: the championship group, featuring the top 6 teams, and a group featuring the last 3 teams from the top 9 and the top 3 teams from the bottom 9. The bottom 6 teams from the bottom 9 will play in the relegation group. Points earned in the top 9 teams in the second and third rounds will determine the champion.

Financial Support for Teams
In a bid to support the teams, FUFA has announced that each team will receive 8 million shillings. The champions will receive an impressive 20 million shillings, up from 3 million in previous seasons. Players will also benefit from increased allowances, with 20,000 shillings winning bonus for each player in the second round and 50,000 shillings in the third round. Match officials will be earning 25,000 shillings each per match .
