Transfers: FAHAD BAYO JOINS NEC FC
NEC FC have bolstered their attack with the signing of Uganda Cranes striker Fahad Bayo on a two-year deal.
The 28-year-old returns to the Uganda Premier League after a spell abroad and becomes the club’s third signing of the window, following Enock Tumwesigye and Enrique Lubwama.
Bayo began his career in Lugazi with Young Academy and Friends of Soccer Academy before breaking through at Kibuli SS, where he finished as top scorer in the 2014 Copa Coca-Cola schools tournament with 11 goals.
He turned professional with Proline FC in 2014. At 16, he helped them win promotion from the Big League in 2015/16. He later scored 6 goals in 18 appearances in the UPL before moving to Zambia’s Buildcon FC in January 2018, where he netted 9 goals and 6 assists in 16 games.
A return to Uganda with Vipers SC followed — 12 goals in 23 games in 2019/20 — before he moved abroad again. Bayo has since played for FC Ashdod and Bnei Sakhnin in Israel, MFK Vyškov in the Czech Republic, Welwalo Adigrat in Ethiopia, FK Vardar in North Macedonia, and KF Arsimi on loan.
Internationally, Bayo was first called up by Sebastien Desabre in March 2018 and has featured for the Uganda Cranes in friendlies against São Tomé and Príncipe and Malawi.
