FUFA Academies League Match Day One Kicked Off with Thrilling Encounters.

The FUFA Academies League, a pilot league being played by Kampala and Buganda region, was part of FIFA’s Talent Development Scheme, supporting youth football in Uganda.
This exciting league targeted Grade 2 and 3 academies, focusing on skill development and progression for players born 2011-2012. The league kicked off over the weekend with four thrilling matches, showcasing the immense talent and potential of young Ugandan footballers.

Match 1: Prosper SA vs Proline SA – Prosper SA Stormed to a 6-1 Victory.
Prosper SA made a statement, thrrottling Proline SA 6-1 in an electrifying encounter. Uthuman Ali (4th, 65th minute) and Niwagaba Danny (19th minute) got Prosper SA off to a flying start. Agenorwoth Titus scored an own goal in the 26th minute, extending the lead. Sserubiri Carrick (70th minute) and Kamuhabwa Perez (82nd minute) sealed the deal for Prosper SA, while Ssekayiba Arshad scored a consolation goal for Proline SA in the 24th minute.

Match 2: KS Sparta 09 vs Edgars Youth – Thrilling Draw.
KS Sparta 09 and Edgars Youth served up a treat, battling to a 2-2 draw. Wafula Alex (14th, 62nd minute) scored a brace for KS Sparta 09. Kilala Vicent (43rd minute) scored from the spot for Edgars Youth, while Kavuma Ramadhan equalized in the 80th minute.
Match 3: El Cambio SA vs Rays of Grace – El Cambio SA Cruised to Victory.

El Cambio SA ran out comfortable 4-1 winners against Rays of Grace. Kasumba Angello (7th, 52nd, 58th minute) scored a hat-trick, while Ofoyrwoth Junior (50th minute) added to the tally. Kiganda Ivan scored a consolation goal for Rays of Grace in the 42nd minute.
Match 4: Twinbrook SA vs Msingi SA – Tense Draw.
Twinbrook SA and Msingi SA played out a tense 2-2 draw. Mulindwa Andrew (28th minute) and Kayizi Jonathan (56th minute) scored for Twinbrook SA, while Oguma Gerald (61st minute) and Muwanguzi Jonah (65th minute) equalized for Msingi SA.

FUFA Football Development Director, Mutyaba Bashir, expressed his delight: “This is what we’ve been waiting for. This is what we actually planned for, and we’re indeed happy that the league has kicked off as planned. We appreciate the coaches, academies directors, managers, and everyone who’s been part of this initiative. The goals scored are a great start, and we hope teams achieve their attacking prowess.
