Muganzirwaza Group Leaders Butambala Sign Experienced Duo
Butambala Ssaza Football Club have moved to strengthen their squad ahead of the second round of the Masaza Cup 2026 with the signing of two experienced players.
The Muganzirwaza group leaders have brought in centre back Farouk Katongole and attacking midfielder Moses Sseruyidde as they look to maintain their unbeaten start.
Farouk Katongole joins to add command, experience and leadership to the Butambala backline.
The defender has featured for several StarTimes Uganda Premier League sides including Tooro United FC, URA FC, Kitara FC, and Soltilo Bright Stars FC.
Moses Sseruyidde is a silky, pacy and quick attacking midfielder known for breaking lines and set-piece delivery.
The experienced playmaker last featured for Rwanda Police FC in Rwanda. Locally, he has played for Kira United, KB Lions, Kitara FC, URA FC among others .
Last season he also turned out for Football Classroom in the Stanbic Uganda Cup.
The duo is expected to provide the balance Butambala need as most of their current squad is drawn from Buganda Province side Nabbingo Sports Club, which competes in Wamala alongside teams like Mpigi United and Happy Boys Kagaba.
Butambala’s Form So Far
Butambala are the only unbeaten side in the Muganzirwaza Group after the first round.
They sit top with 11 points from 5 games: 3 wins, 2 draws, 0 losses, 5 goals scored and 2 conceded.
Their last outing was a 0-0 home draw against Kooki, a result that kept their unbeaten run intact.
