The Kampala Region League title race took a decisive turn over the weekend, with Black Stars FC reclaiming top spot after Matchday 33 while Proline FC dropped crucial points in the run-in. With just two games left, the championship battle is now a straight fight between Black Stars and Proline, separated by a single point.
At Gems Cambridge Butabika, Mutungo FC frustrated title-chasing Proline FC with a goalless draw, denying them the win they desperately needed.

The two dropped points proved costly, as Proline slipped to second on 47 points. Black Stars capitalized at the Express Kanyanya playground, edging Born Talent FC 1-0 in a rescheduled fixture. Kaye Peter proved the hero, scoring the winner in the 24th minute. The result pushed Black Stars to the summit with 48 points from 33 matches, one point clear of Proline.
Elsewhere, the relegation picture became clearer. Water Football Club secured a 2-1 win over already relegated Kireka United at UICT, with goals from Aziku Joshua and Tumusiime Moses. Muller Ssenyonga netted a consolation for Kireka, whose drop back to the Provincial League was confirmed alongside Lungujja Galaxy.

The fight to avoid the drop remains tight for Buganda Road and Lufula, whose survival chances are hanging by a thread. Buganda Road kept their hopes alive with a 1-0 win over Lukuli Hearts thanks to Abdul Razak Ssembusi’s strike. In other results, Wembley Boys thrashed Kisugu UTD 5-1 in a dominant display, with Derrick Munarira netting twice and Benjamin Kimbowa, Joshua Jireh, Joel Derrick, and Francis Bukohore adding one each.
Mukwaya Bruno scored for Kisugu. PCCP FC edged Edgars FC 3-1 through goals from Muwawu Isaac, Ahmed Miti Kayongo, and Allan Kalule, with Jovan Mulondo replying for Edgars. Ntinda United also edged Nsambya SC 4-3 in a thriller.

With two matches remaining, Black Stars hold the advantage in the title race, but Proline will believe a slip-up can swing it back their way. At the bottom, while Kireka and Lungujja Galaxy’s fate is sealed, Buganda Road and Lufula face a desperate fight to stay up.
