Bishop George Ssenabulya Crowned Mpigi District Odilo U14 Champions

Bishop George Ssenabulya Primary School emerged champions of the Mpigi District Odilo U14 Qualifiers after a dominant performance at the week-long tournament. The qualifiers ran from Friday 12th to Tuesday 16th June at Mpigi Police Playground and Kyasanku Playground, featuring 10 schools battling for a place at the regional level.

The tournament brought together Bishop George Ssenabulya Primary School, St. Balikuddembe Primary School Buyijja, Jomas South Primary School, Hope Junior School Nakirebe, Mpigi Central Primary School, Ssekiwunga Primary School, St. Joseph Primary School Jjeza, Uganda Martyrs Primary School Buwama, Jomas North Primary School, and St. James Primary School. The teams were split into groups before the knockout stages.

The semi-finals delivered high drama. St. Balikuddembe Primary School Buyijja edged St. Joseph 1-1 on penalties, 5-4, after a tense 1-1 draw in normal time. In the other semi-final, Bishop George Ssenabulya showed their class with a commanding 3-1 victory over Uganda Martyrs Buwama to book a place in the final.

The final was a one-sided affair. Bishop George Ssenabulya Primary School produced a clinical display to beat St. Balikuddembe Primary School Buyijja 3-0 and lift the Mpigi District title. Their attacking flair and defensive discipline stood out throughout the tournament.

With the district crown secured, Bishop George Ssenabulya Primary School will now represent Mpigi at the regional level of the Odilo U14 tournament. Their dominant run in the qualifiers will give them confidence as they prepare for the next challenge.
