Ugandans showed improvement at the concluded Kampala International Future Series.
Among over 130 players from 14 countries that participated in this year’s Kampala International Future Series held at the Lugogo Indoor Arena between September 24 and 27, 2026, Ugandan players performed better than last year, managing to bag five medals including a silver in doubles.
To make a stronger statement, Muzafar Lubega and Gladys Mbabazi paired up to settle for a silver medal in mixed doubles; last year, none of the Ugandans managed a silver medal as they only emerged with seven bronzes.
Again in the mixed doubles, Reagan Nsubuga and Tracy Naluwooza made it to the podium, settling for a bronze medal. Naluwooza again reached the podium in women’s doubles after matching their performance from last year with Fadilah Shamika.
For the same cause, Mebel Namakoye and Gladys Mbabazi also won a women’s doubles bronze, while the young male pair of Joshua Ekochu and Tendo Mukalazi were limited to bronze in men’s doubles.

However, as they gear up for the Uganda International Tournament scheduled for October 1 to 4, Ugandans face a significant challenge to improve their performances in singles, as all players were stopped at the quarterfinals in the Kampala International Future Series.
In men’s singles, only Reagan Nsubuga managed to reach the quarterfinals, while in women’s singles, Fadilah Shamika, Kuruthum Nalumansi, Tracy Naluwooza, and Gladys Mbabazi all lost at the quarterfinal stage.
