BABY CRICKET CRANES CRUSH MOZAMBIQUE TO REMAIN UNBEATEN IN ICC U19 AFRICA DIVISION 2 QUALIFIER
Uganda’s Baby Cricket Cranes produced a dominant all-round performance on Day Two of the ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup Africa Division 2 Qualifier, thrashing Mozambique U19 by 384 runs at Gahanga B Oval in Kigali.

Uganda won the toss and elected to bat first, making one change to the side that beat Nigeria. Seamer Kenneth Isiko came in for spinner Eric Mukisa to add greater batting depth.
The innings got off to the worst possible start as Devanshkumar Ritesh Patel fell to the first legal delivery, caught at point.
Uganda responded emphatically, racing to 75/1 inside the opening 10 overs before taking complete control.
Samuel Ahaisibwe continued his fine tournament with a fluent 77 off 53 balls, hitting 12 boundaries before departing in the 18th over. His attacking approach set the platform for the middle order to dominate.
The defining moment came through a magnificent 137-run partnership between captain Daniel Rubangakene and Robert Owili. The stand came off just 121 deliveries, with Owili contributing 81 and Rubangakene adding a composed 36.
Owili went on to produce the innings of the tournament so far, smashing 132 from 96 balls with 15 fours and 3 sixes. His century took Uganda past 200 in the 31st over and set the stage for a late assault.
Richard Sohera added an unbeaten 32 from 23 balls, before Larry Elton Itaagi finished with a blistering 28 not out off 14 deliveries. The late surge lifted Uganda to a commanding 410/6 in their 50 overs.
Defending the total, Uganda’s bowlers were relentless from the outset. Mozambique never recovered from the early breakthroughs and were bowled out for just 26 in 25.5 overs.
Hamid Munigwa led the attack with outstanding figures of 4/9 from 9.5 overs. Richard Sohera matched him with 4/1 in 6 overs. Larry Elton Itaagi and Jackson Asiku claimed a wicket each. Mozambique’s highest individual score was just 8 runs.
The emphatic victory gives Uganda back-to-back wins in Kigali and provides a huge boost to their net run rate. The Baby Cricket Cranes are firmly in pursuit of promotion back to Africa Division One and another ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup qualification.
The tournament takes a rest day on Tuesday. Uganda return to action on Wednesday against Ghana U19 at the IPRC Cricket Oval.
