KIGALI, Rwanda — Uganda’s Amus College School has booked a place in the boys’ final of the CAF Africa Schools Football Championship CECAFA Qualifiers, while the girls will compete for third place after contrasting semi-final results in Kigali.

Amus College is representing Uganda in both the boys’ and girls’ competitions, and both sides successfully negotiated the group stage to reach the semi-finals.

The Uganda girls enjoyed a perfect start to the tournament, opening with a 3-0 victory over Burundi before edging Rwanda 1-0.

They maintained their winning run with a 2-0 victory against South Sudan to finish the group stage with three wins from three matches.

However, their impressive campaign suffered a setback in the semi-finals when Tanzania secured a 2-0 victory to send Uganda into the third-place playoff.

The girls will now have an opportunity to finish the tournament on the podium when they contest the bronze-medal match on Saturday afternoon.
