Promotion Battle Intensifies in Kampala Region Fourth Division.

The Kampala Region Fourth Division (Province League) commenced over the weekend, with several matches showcasing the best of Ugandan football.

Kibuli United FC made a statement, thrashing Mutundwe Red Star 4-0. Patrick Jolly (5th, 34th minute) and Wanuwe Gilbert (61st, 81st minute) scored braces for the home side, dominating the game.

Mutundwe Red Star’s struggles were exacerbated by their numerical disadvantage, playing with 10 men for most of the game. Tebusweke Ashiraf was sent off in the 40th minute after picking up a second caution, having been booked for reckless foul play in the 25th minute and unsporting behavior in the 40th minute.

Kibuli United’s victory propels them to second place with 22 points from 11 matches, while Mutundwe Red Star languish in the relegation zone with nine points from 11 matches.

Meanwhile, Wellspring Amigos FC maintained their grip on the top spot with 25 points from 10 matches, despite their match against Jaguar Warriors didn’t take place due to the latter’s absence. The Kampala Region Football Association’s competitions department is set to make a verdict on this encounter.

Old Kampala FC’s 1-0 win over Kazinga Moonlight was a crucial victory, courtesy of Ragasale Christopher’s 18th-minute strike. This win moves Old Kampala FC up to sixth place with 13 points from 11 matches, while Kazinga Moonlight drops to fourth with 16 points. It was a shock loss for Kazinga Moonlight, who were expected to pick up points at home.
