Makindye Demolished Kampala Central 7-0 As Abineno Stunner Earned Kawempe Draw With Nakawa

The Kampala Region Referees Inter DFA Tournament continued yesterday with Matchday Two at Mutesa II Wankulukuku Stadium, and the day delivered both a rout and a last-gasp equalizer. Makindye stormed to a 7-0 victory over Kampala Central in their first match of the campaign, while Kawempe denied Nakawa with a 90+1 minute free-kick to keep their unbeaten start alive.

Makindye made a statement of intent by overwhelming a struggling Kampala Central side.

Robert Mugisha and substitute Sande Robert Agwokuth both scored braces, while Frank Ssemakula, Gaddafi Sabatya and Gonzaga Kigozi also got on the scoresheet. Blair Buluwaze led the press and caused Central’s defense constant problems even without scoring. Mugisha was voted Man of the Match for his double and overall influence.

The defeat leaves Kampala Central bottom of the five-team table after two matches.

They are yet to score and have now conceded 8 goals. For Makindye, the 7-0 win was the perfect start and puts them among the early title contenders.

The second game was a tight affair between Kawempe and Nakawa, meeting for the third time since this tournament began last year. Nakawa had won the previous two 1-0, but this time Kawempe had the final say. Badru Ssebyatika put Nakawa ahead in the 47th minute with a composed finish.

Just when Nakawa looked set for another narrow win, Kawempe struck in added time. In the first minute of stoppage time, Abineno Catland stepped up for a free kick on the far left and curled a perfect shot into the top left corner.

To beat the Nakawa goalkeeper, sent the stadium wild, and earned Abineno the Bash Collections Player of the Match award. The point keeps Kawempe unbeaten after two games.

With Makindye showing ruthless form and Kawempe proving their late fight, Matchday Two made it clear this tournament will be competitive. Central must find answers quickly, while Makindye and Kawempe will back themselves to go deep.
