Three UPL Clubs In Race For FUFA Big League Topscorer Isaac Gumperom

A transfer battle is brewing for Young Elephants striker Isaac Gumperom after the FUFA Big League top scorer attracted interest from three Uganda Premier League clubs ahead of the 2026/27 season.

Entebbe-based UPPC FC are among the sides pushing for the prolific forward as they look to strengthen their striking line. The move comes as reports indicate that UPPC forward Ambrose Kigozi is close to finalizing a deal with Kenyan Premier League giants AFC Leopards. With Kigozi set to depart, the Entebbe club have identified Gumperom as the ideal replacement to lead their attack.

Seventeen-time Uganda Premier League champions SC Villa are also in the hunt for Gumperom’s signature. Villa have struggled for consistency in front of goal, and the situation could worsen with Charles Lwanga likely to leave the club. What gives SC Villa an upper hand in the race is assistant coach Peter Onen, who previously worked with Gumperom during his time at Acholi Province and is believed to have a strong relationship with the striker.

The third club in contention is Jinja-based BUL FC. The Eastern Giants released 10 players today, including two forwards in Karim Ndugwa and Isaac Wagoina, creating space in their frontline. Gumperom’s profile fits the club’s ongoing squad overhaul as they target younger, goal-hungry talent.

Gumperom enjoyed a breakout campaign last season, scoring 17 goals for Young Elephants in the FUFA Big League to finish as the division’s top scorer. His movement, finishing, and composure have made him one of the most sought-after attackers in the country.

With UPPC needing a direct replacement, Villa desperate for goals, and BUL reshaping their squad, the race for Gumperom’s signature is set to intensify in the coming weeks.
