Isaac Gumperom delivered when it mattered most. On the final day of the 2025-26 FUFA Big League season, the Young Elephants striker netted twice as his side thrashed Wakiso Giants FC 4-0 at Young Elephants Park to secure survival. That win, powered by Gumperom’s goals all season, also earned him the league’s Golden Boot with 17 goals.
Young Elephants FC went into the last stretch with one of the youngest squads in the division.

Aside from experienced heads like Hakim Magembe, the team relied heavily on youth players still learning the pace of senior football. In that context, Gumperom wasn’t just the top scorer — he was the anchor.
His game is built for teams in transition. Gumperom’s pace and agility stretch defenses, while his positioning turns half-chances into goals. He makes sharp runs on and off the ball, constantly dragging defenders out of shape and creating space for teammates. In a side short on experience, that movement gave Young Elephants an outlet under pressure and a consistent scoring threat.

This isn’t new territory for the forward. Gumperom led Young Elephants in scoring during the 2023-24 FUFA Big League campaign with 9 goals, even as the club was relegated to the Regional League. He then dominated the North Region League in 2024-25 with another 17-goal haul, firing the Elephants straight back to the Big League.
To produce 17 goals in a young, inexperienced team speaks to Gumperom’s composure and work rate. He’s had to create more for himself, finish under pressure, and carry the attacking burden without relying on seasoned creators around him. Clinical in the box, lethal on the counter, and relentless in his runs, he’s been the difference between relegation and survival.

For a squad learning on the job, Gumperom has been the one constant — and the reason Young Elephants live to fight another season in the FUFA Big League.
