Kitara Football Club have added another trophy to their cabinet, beating SC Villa 2-1 in a dramatic Stanbic Uganda Cup final at the FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru.

SC Villa struck first in the 12th minute when Samuel Ssemayange’s tap-in took a deflection off Kitara defender Kaddu Patrick Henry and looped into the net. But Kitara responded instantly. Just a minute later, Gadafi Wahab’s corner caused chaos in the Villa box, and a miscue from SC Villa captain Ssemugera sent the ball into his own goal to level the score.

The winner came two minutes into the second half. Jimmy Kalema finished calmly to put Kitara ahead, and coach Waswa Bbosa’s side held firm to seal victory.

It’s Kitara’s second Uganda Cup title in club history, following their 1-0 win over NEC FC in the 2024 final at Mutesa II Wankulukuku Stadium.

With two Cup triumphs now on their record, Kitara FC are proving they have the pedigree for knockout football. For SC Villa, it’s another final to forget, but for Kitara, the Cup remains a happy hunting ground.
