FUFA Shifts Uganda Cup Final To Another Stadium After Kitara Challenge Over Venue Neutrality
Kitara’s push for a neutral venue has paid off. Days ago, the Hoima-based side raised concerns over fairness and competitive balance ahead of their clash with SC Villa, arguing that selecting a ground closely associated with Villa undermined the neutrality expected of a cup final. The timing of the announcement also drew criticism from the club, which insisted the decision risked compromising the integrity of the showpiece.
According to reliable sources, FUFA has changed the venue for the 52nd Stanbic Uganda Cup final to the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru. The change comes after Kitara Football Club rejected the earlier proposal to host the final at Kadiba Stadium.
FUFA has now reversed its initial decision, moving the final away from Kadiba. The match date remains unchanged at 30th May 2026, but the new venue gives both sides a level playing field in what promises to be a tightly contested final between nine-time winners SC Villa and one-time champions Kitara.
The switch vindicates Kitara’s stance and reinforces the importance of perceived neutrality in major finals. For Villa and Kitara, the focus now returns to football, with the Stanbic Uganda Cup set for a fresh showdown in Njeru.
