Ssewanyana’s Brace Inspires Simba FC While Buwambo Keeps Title Chase Alive

The Buganda Region League roared back to life over the weekend with Matchday 30 delivering goals, drama, and a two-horse title race that will go down to the wire. With one game left, Simba FC and Buwambo United FC are locked on 61 points, setting up a winner-takes-all showdown next weekend.
Simba FC sent a statement with a ruthless 6-0 demolition of Buikwe Red Stars. Forward Robert Ssewanyana led the charge with a brace, while Sam Ssemuggu and Ronnie Ziraba also netted twice each.

Ssemuggu’s double took his tally to 19 league goals this season and underlined why he’s been central to Simba’s campaign. The win consolidated Simba’s grip at the top, though their joy was tempered slightly by Buikwe’s Siraje Ssenkuba seeing red in a frustrating afternoon for the visitors.
Buwambo United refused to blink. Two second-half goals from Alex Mutebi and Enock Ssekatawa saw them overcome a resurgent Nantabulirwa FC side.
The 2-0 victory propelled Buwambo to second place on 61 points, level with Simba and keeping their own title hopes very much alive. That result ensures next weekend’s clash between the two sides will decide the championship.
