The Kasasiro Boys dominated possession and created several chances, but Maroons FC’s stubborn defense held firm until the dying moments of the first half. It was Ashiraf Mugume who broke the deadlock in the 45th minute, his strike assisted by Ivan Ahimbisibwe. The goal gave KCCA FC the momentum they needed heading into the break.

The second half saw KCCA FC turn up the heat, with the team pushing for a second goal.

Their patience paid off in the 87th minute when substitute Herbert Achai unleashed a thunderous long-range shot that left Maroons FC goalkeeper Symon Tamale with no chance. The goal sparked celebrations at Lugogo, with the home fans sensing victory.

And it was only fitting that Ivan Ahimbisibwe capped off the win with a goal in the 90th minute, assisted by Mugume. The 3-0 scoreline flattered Maroons FC, who had been outplayed for large chunks of the game. Forward Ivan Ahimbisibwe took his goal tally to 13 this season in the Startimes Uganda Premier league.

The victory lifts KCCA FC to second place on the table with 55 points from 27 matches, and they will be looking to build on this momentum when they face UPDF FC at the Military Barracks ground in Bombo next week.

As for Maroons FC, they remain ninth with 34 points from 27 matches, and will need to regroup quickly if they are to start climbing the table. The 3-0 loss was a harsh pill to swallow, but the team will take positives from their first-half display and look to put things right in their next outing. KCCA FC, on the other hand, will be delighted with their performance, and will be hoping to carry this form into their upcoming matches.
