NEC FC extended their unbeaten run in the Uganda Premier League, claiming a 1-0 victory over Mbarara City FC at the MTN Omondi Stadium Lugogo.
In the match, NEC FC created a couple of chances but weren’t clinical enough. A thunderbolt from Innocent Media hit the woodwork in the 19th minute. Still, in the 44th minute, Dina Makenga was inches away from a stunner, rattling the crossbar, with Media on the rebound, but it flew over.

In the 49th minute, Dina Makenga was brought down in the box, and NEC FC earned a penalty kick. Goalkeeper Hannington Ssebwalunyo stepped up, but his penalty kick was saved by Mbarara City goalkeeper Kafuluma Stuart. However, Ssebwalunyo scored from the rebound, securing the win for NEC FC.
This was Hannington Ssebwalunyo’s second goal of the season in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League, having scored his first goal against URA Football Club.

NEC FC had a chance to double their lead in the 73rd minute, but Seremba Joseph’s effort hit the woodwork.
After scoring the goal, Ssebwalunyo said, “I feel happy having fulfilled the responsibility granted and entrusted. Though I applaud the cause to team effort and thanks to God for courage.”
New signing forward Dine Makenga was voted both the Lingsoft Aluminum and Uganda Premier League man of the match.

NEC FC sits 5th on the table with 45 points from 25 matches, while Mbarara City FC is just one place above relegation with 17 points from 25 matches. NEC FC has now gone 15 Uganda Premier League matches unbeaten.
