In a pulsating encounter in the Kenya Premier League, Nairobi United FC shared spoils with Kakamega Homeboyz FC, playing out a 2-2 draw at home. The visitors took an early lead through Oliver Machaka’s 14th-minute strike, but Michael Karamor restored parity for Nairobi United in the 28th minute, only to double their lead 12 minutes later with a brace.

However, Kakamega Homeboyz FC refused to give up, and Mustapha Kizza, who replaced Daniel Omalla in the 61st minute, curled a beauty into the far corner nine minutes later to level the scores at 2-2, a scoreline that would ultimately hold.

Speaking after the match, Nairobi United defender Musa Kizza revealed the secret behind his hot form, opening up on plans for a farewell match in Uganda, inviting former Harambee Stars captains Victor Wanyama and McDonald Mariga, and sharing his best memories playing with Wanyama at Montréal.

“First of all, I want to thank God for this wonderful moment, and I, personally, have the quality, and coaches are trying to help me see that I can come in and help the team,” Kizza said. When asked about his quality, which is evident, but largely starting as a substitute, Kizza said, “For me, as long as the team is doing well, it’s almost what matters, and when I come in, I try to help them, so it’s a team’s effort. So, if the team is doing well, I just need to work hard to impress the coach so I can start a game.”

Kizza also spoke about the importance of the point gained from the draw, saying,

I have the quality and coaches are trying to help me see that I can come in and help the team,” Kizza said.

When asked about his goals against Shabana and today’s strike, Kizza said, “Honestly, I feel happy, and I’m trying to help the team. To be honest, they signed me; they know what I can do, and I’m positive; I know we can still do better.” On his best memories with Wanyama, Kizza recalled, “My best memory with Wanyama is when I gave him an assist against Toronto. Wanyama is the person who has been trying to help me, even before joining Montreal; he got my contact; he had a Ugandan joining Montreal, and he was been there for me, and I think he’s doing a great job on my side.”

Nairobi United FC now sit seventh on the table with 39 points from 22 matches. They will return to action on the 10th of this month, away to Posta Rangers
