The StarTimes Uganda Premier League commenced today as NEC FC Claimed a 2-0 win over Lugazi FC at Najjembe Stadium.

Ssekammatte’s Brace Secured Win for NEC

Substitute Samuel Ssekammatte Kayongo proved to be the difference-maker for NEC FC, scoring a brace after coming on for Emmanuel Kulunga in the 46th minute. His first goal, a shot from outside the penalty area, beat Lugazi FC goalkeeper Batali Allan in the 51st minute. Ssekammatte sealed the win in the 71st minute, converting a penalty after being fouled in the penalty area.

Ssekammatte’s Post-Match Interview

“It felt amazing to score my first two goals,” Ssekammatte said. “Coming off the bench and making an impact was what made it special. I didn’t have a good game on my debut, but I learned from it and came back stronger.”

When asked about building on his performance, he added: “”I’m taking it easy, game by game, trying to gel with my teammates, learning from the coaches. I believe the consistency will come slowly but surely.”
