Lugazi FC Appoints Simon Peter Mugerwa as New Head Coach

Lugazi Football Club has announced the appointment of Simon Peter Mugerwa as the head coach, effective immediately. Mugerwa, who recently left Mbarara City in November 2025, has signed a one‑year contract with Lugazi FC. He will be joined by veteran assistant coach Robert Sekweyama, who has worked with top‑flight clubs like Police FC, Wakiso Giants, and Express FC.

Mugerwa he guided Police FC from the FUFA Big League to the Uganda Premier League in the 2023‑24 season. He also won the 2019 and 2022 Masaza Cup with Bulemeezi and Busiro respectively, and led Buddo to three Wakiso district titles and the 2018 National Championship.

Mugerwa’s appointment comes at a crucial time for Lugazi FC, which sits 14th on the league table with 10 points from 11 matches, placing them in the relegation zone. The club hopes his expertise will help turn the season around.
