Maroons FC Snap Four-Match Winless Streak with Thrilling 3-0 Win Over Lugazi FC

In a much-needed boost to their Uganda Premier League campaign, Maroons Football Club ended their four-match winless run with a convincing 3-0 victory over Lugazi Football Club at Luzira Prisons Playground.

The win, which was their first home victory of the season, was a culmination of a well-crafted game plan that saw the hosts dominate possession and create numerous scoring opportunities.

Raymond Walugembe scored an early goal for Maroons FC in the second minute, setting the tone for a match that would see the hosts continue to push for more goals. Attacking midfielder Jackson Nunda doubled their lead 32 minutes later, capitalizing on a defensive mistake by Lugazi FC.

Three minutes to stoppage time, Ivan Asaba ‘Di Maria’ sealed the win, making the scoreline 3-0 in favor of Maroons FC.

Nunda, who was named man of the match, spoke about the significance of the win: “This first home win is very important to us because it brings confidence and reduces the pressure of playing at home in front of our fans. We needed this for the next game, which is still at home, and we’re looking forward to continuing this good form.”

The victory lifted Maroons FC to 12th place on the table with 8 points from seven matches, while Lugazi FC sits 10th with 9 points from 8 matches.

Maroons FC will return to action on Saturday, hosting NEC FC in the Nakawa Derby, a match that promises to be a thrilling encounter between two teams in good form.

Meanwhile, Lugazi FC will visit UPDF FC on December 5, looking to bounce back from this defeat.
