The Buganda Region League kicked off over the weekend with a series of exciting matches that left fans on the edge of their seats.

In a tightly contested match at Bombo Military Barracks ground, Young Simba FC secured a narrow 1-0 win over Buwambo United FC, courtesy of Patrick Teremwa’s solitary strike.

The result marked Buwambo United’s first loss of the season, and the defeat puts added pressure on the team to bounce back stronger.

In other action, Lufula Manyangwa Football Club celebrated a convincing 3-1 victory over Kiboga United Sports Club at Gayaza Church ground.

Hassan Mubiru opened the scoring for Manyangwa in the 12th minute, but Kiboga United’s Rashid Jumah equalized just before halftime.

The visitors regained control in the second half, with Mubiru netting his second goal in the 59th minute, followed by Augustine Lubega’s insurance strike two minutes later.

Defending champions Super Eagles Lungogwe FC finally tasted victory in the campaign, thrashing Buikwe Red Stars 3-0 at Kasanda Saza playground.

Vincent Agaku put the hosts ahead in the 13th minute, Kayemba Henry doubled the lead in the 60th, and Garvin Baligeya sealed the win with a seventh-minute stoppage-time goal.

This victory marks a promising start for Super Eagles Lungogwe, who look set to defend their title.

Elsewhere, Nyendo Football Club and Simba Football Club played out a goalless draw at Kyetume Lwetemu playground, while Seeta United FC edged Uganda Sports Arena 1-0 thanks to Shafik Mavuma’s lone strike at Seeta CU ground.

In Masaka, Masaka City FC snatched a dramatic 1-0 win over Nantabulirwa FC, with Latif Lubega scoring a 94th-minute winner—a testament to the team’s resilience.

At Ndeeba Kayunga host Synergy lost 1-0 to Wobulenzi United.
